The Portland Guesthouse achieved not only a four star Visit England rating at the first time of asking. Additionally a Silver and Breakfast Award.
Reviewed in March 2020 for the first time, the reviewer made note of his pleasure in issuing the awards.
“It is a pleasure to recommend the Silver award and Breakfast award. Reflecting the care and attention afforded.”
The Report
During the overnight assessment, categories including hospitality & friendly, cleanliness and food quality were all on the agenda.
A 5-star score awarded for cleanliness was a real credit to the team and the trainees. Consistently they all work tirelessly in the upkeep of the property.
Breakfast, half of the offering at The Portland was another highlight from the stay. Another 5-star score awarded for Food quality which breaks down into breakfast choice & range, presentation, quality & culinary skills. Being awarded the Breakfast award at first time of asking was a real accomplishment by the team. Notes from the report suggested “Again a very good choice of hot options. The egg was beautifully cooked and moist, served with crisp bacon, well cooked fresh tomato. All items were well cooked and most attractively presented on the plate… A great way to start the day!”
The assessor booked a Cosy King Room. As with all the guests (when possible), a complimentary upgrade is provided.
Commenting on the achievements Sam Lucy, Manager stated “I’m very proud of the whole team. Including the support network from St Vincent’s & St George’s Association. From as soon as I took the role I saw the passion and goals. This is a major step in the right direction.” He went on to say “This is the standard we have set now, and the highlighted improvements and additions in the report will further enhance The Portland.”
The Portland is now listed on the Rated Trips website, with their four star rating proudly displayed.
