Built in 1836 and is grade 11 listed building, not able to accommodate wheelchairs.

Entering the property – 1 step up from the curb to the entrance pathway, then 7 steps up to the main entrance, 1 further step to the hallway.

Main entrance comprises of double opening doors which opens to a maximum of 1300mm.

There are three bedrooms in the basement, 2 twin and I double with king size bed. The basement is accessed by one step down then a carpeted staircase with 12 steps.

The first floor has 3 double bedrooms all with king size beds there are 12 carpeted steps to the first-floor landing, there are 3 carpeted steps to the first bedroom on this floor then 6 carpeted steps to the next two rooms.

There is one double bedroom on the second floor with a king size bed, this landing is accessed via 10 carpeted steps with three addition steps into the bedroom.

All steps and stairs have an attached handrail.

As we are located in the centre of Cheltenham, we do not have onsite parking and onstreet parking is limited. However, there are plenty of pay and display carparks opposite The Portland. On or prior to your arrival, we can inform you of the best place to park.

The Portland is clearly identifiable with the outside lights and red front door standing out from surrounding properties. 

After signing your checking in documents you will be escorted to your room and assistance given with luggage. Full orientation of the property will be given at this point. 

All of our public areas, and guest rooms comply with legislation and emergency lighting is provided in case of emergency on the staircases.

We do not have public lavatories on site at The Portland.

Guests are not permitted to enter the kitchen for health and safety reasons. 

Bedrooms have sockets to the side of each bed and leads for kettles are situated behind furniture. Hairdryers are kept unplugged in a storage facility in the room. Some bedrooms have a step in to the bathroom and a further step in to the shower. We have no baths at The Portland. Bathrooms are wooden floored, whilst bedrooms are all carpeted. 

Wi-fi is available throughout with boosters strategically placed through the building, a flat-screen TV is in every bedroom.

Allergens – Allergy free bedding is available upon request and our breakfasts can be altered appropriately.
